Educator

I became and educator in 2009 at San Antonio Independent School District’s Brackenridge High School and in 2015 at the Alamo Community College District’s St. Philip’s College.

I teach Personal Finance, Principles of Marketing, Principles of Selling, Entrepreneurship, E-Commerce, Advertising and Sales, Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Web Technology and Real Estate Investing.

I believe that becoming an educator is a calling. The influences I’ve had in my life led me to serve others and teaching is one way I serve. Knowledge is power and teaching people personal finance and how to start and grow businesses is a great way to empower them.

My goal is to equip my students with knowledge and tools for personal finance and business. What separates me from other educators is that I am a business owner. I can show my students day to day real world examples of business in my lessons. In my opinion, there is no better way to teach Business than by being a player in the marketplace.

Entrepreneur

Another calling of mine is Entrepreneurship. I began my first venture in college and have been an entrepreneur since then. My active businesses are SA Perks LLC and Mercury REI LLC.

SA Perks exists to help people get and stay healthy with nutrition. Perks provides hand crafted pure juices, juice blends, tonics and healthy food. Customers can get these products delivered to their places of work or at home. They can also purchase products at partner businesses.

Mercury REI is a Real Estate Investing business that acquires, rehabs or builds properties and manages them as long-term investments.

Experience

I’ve worked in several industries and gained many years of experience working in Business Administration, Information Management, Marketing, Advertising, Sales, Real Estate, Finance, Human Resources, and Military Operations. Companies I have worked for include JPMorgan Chase, InnTerActive Marketing, AmeriNet Mortgage, Homevestors, the Austin American-Statesman, and the United States Air Force.

The companies I mentioned above are the ones I use as professional experience but I have also worked for my father’s construction business JG Masonry, Wendy’s, Yee’s Oriental Express, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, Radio Shack, Howdy Honda and Sunset Direct.

I have also served as President of the American Marketing Association’s San Antonio Chapter, President of the Marketing Educators of Texas and as a board member of the national Marketing Education Association.
