Mercury REI LLC – I started Real Estate investing in 1998 at the age of 22 by buying my first property with a VA loan and becoming a landlord. I bought my second property in 2002 shortly after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin’s Business School and is located 20 minutes east of Austin in Bastrop County. My first job out of college was as a Real Estate Advertising Consultant for the Austin-American Statesman, Austin’s newspaper. I left that job to pursue a Real Estate investing career in San Antonio working as a buyer for Homevestors, the “We Buy Ugly Houses” franchise. At Homevestors, I was in charge of fielding seller calls, pre-screening them, setting appointments, appraising and rehab cost estimating the properties as well as negotiating with them and signing the sales contract.
I was learning a great deal until the Real Estate market collapsed in 2007. I left that job and became a Small Business Banker at Chase Bank. I figured I could keep learning about business from the customers I served and then the financial collapse of 2008 happened. Luckily Chase survived but taught me that I was better off doing something else. So, I decided to become an educator in business. The main reasons: for education where to serve others, spend more time with my family, and become an entrepreneur. I have done all three and a lot more.
I am always looking at investing in more rental property in the San Antonio Area. I learn a great deal from “Bigger Pockets” which is a great resources for the Real Estate Investing community. I recommend checking it out www.biggerpockets.com.
